Good light but not quite 3360 lux

First of all I would like to say that I like the light quality of this panel. I bought mainly for photo and video products and for these they do a good job with good color reproduction. My only issue is the performance or at least what is described for the product as 3360 lux/meter which I think means 3360 lux. one meter. It is not exactly as shown in the attached photos. The light has been rated for battery operation using FP-970 compatible 8800mAh batteries (each light requires two batteries). At a distance of one meter, the light without a softbox measures 1500 lux with the Sekonic L-478DR. For the test, the meter was set to a dot position (collector retracted). Illumination with the optional Neewer Softbox measures 800 lux at one meter. Both settings fall well short of the advertised light output, so anyone buying this as a constant light source for portrait photography may be disappointed. At 1000 lux (about 24 inches from the subject), your camera should be set to 800 ISO, f/6.3 at 1/100 second. Of course, depending on your camera, you can adjust these settings more slowly (1/60) to increase aperture or reduce ISO noise, but I'm a shaky person by nature and try to keep my shutter a little faster on a tripod . With multiple lights (main, fill, hair, etc.) you get a bit more light output overall (maybe you get a stop light overall), but these lights cut it almost to the limit of what's considered acceptable for portrait work. For anything else up close, these are great flashlights. The softbox expands the light to 12 square inches when attached, and is also generally quite small for a main portrait light. Note that lux and lumens don't immediately equate to watt-seconds when comparing continuous light to strobe or flash. Therefore, the values given provide a general comparison of what the lux values give you in relation to the camera settings for correct exposure. Color reproduction is decent here too. If you plan to use it as a constant light source for portrait photography, consider using a light bar with a higher lux rating, in the 6000-10000 lux range.
