They work but the magnets could be stronger.

They go well with a regular wooden pencil but the magnets could be a bit stronger. Depending on the weight of the pencil, wobbling of the magnet (as can happen with a mobile cart or tool) can cause it to come loose. Works well on a stationary surface as long as it doesn't hit. I haven't tested this yet, but trimming the rubber "collar" can improve contact between the magnet and the mounting surface as long as the magnet stays attached to the mount.
