Update: They were sturdy and a big hit at our event. Lids are safe. They were surprisingly durable and even withstood the use of my four young children (usually cups don't last long). We used them as cups at the breakfast and snack tables and they were MUCH cheaper than bottled water. Our guests even praised the attention to detail: covered cups and colorful straws that match our theme and can be carried from room to room. Our older guests always want take out drinks which our cleaners absolutely refuse and it has been a tough cold/flu/allergy season leaving many with residual coughs and they were all thankful they had mugs to take out without them . Concerns about spills (our caretaker checked them in advance to make sure they were safe and wouldn't complicate their job and gave them his heartfelt approval). I will buy more for future events.
