Review on 🐠 EHEIM Mini-Up Filter for Aquarium Optimization by Carrie Thal

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Keep your fingers crossed.

I have always considered Eheim to be a premier manufacturer of aquarium supplies. I say this from my experience with their external filters. I had two of their 150 and 250 series of cans. These filters have served me reliably for years. I recently dropped them off at a local store where they quickly went into service. I donated them because I wanted to switch to just installing sponge filters. However, I wanted to include a small internal filter to provide additional flow and some filtration. When it came time to choose that little filter --- I went to Eheim immediately. This "mini up" seemed perfect for what I wanted. Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case. The first came with a broken pump wheel (impeller). The filter was returned and a replacement arrived later that week. This filter had the same broken part! I don't know if this was due to a bad "batch" of impellers running online during assembly or an incorrect design(?). However, I didn't want to try the third one to find out. In closing, I hope this was just an anomaly as my experience with Eheim so far has been commendable. I don't want to give them up just yet, but for this little filter. I will look elsewhere.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet
