Working on my energetic, intelligent, large pup.

***UPDATE*** In just a few hours she figured out how to pick it up. Luckily we have a very large tree behind us and we just use a chain to wrap the tree around and a cable to tie it down. Then she figured out how to throw off her dishes. Hooray. rzunimag. A new hanger later and it was two days on a pot line, with a stake to hold the chain in place so it wouldn't cut our tree, and it's still holding up. So if you have a very strong and intelligent dog, use a tree that is almost 20 feet wide. rzunimag. If you have a regular dog, this thing will probably work just fine. Day one, connected. she hates it We have a fully fenced yard for the dogs to roam free but our 6 month old pup figured out how to jump over the chain fence. I guess there's no more freedom until we can afford a higher fence. Immediately she checked him and ran to his end, he didn't budge so we should be pretty good. I've had a red rope like that before and I know if you have a dog that chews it won't last long. So we also bought a chain, wrapped a red rope around it, fixed it at a few places along the trail and fixed one to the collar and the other to the harness because huskies and energetic dogs can get caught in the chains. I learned a few tricks from my clever dogs. Everything seems fine. I'm not sure how strong the part is where the wires attach to the rod, so I'll eventually find another way to attach it to the coil. Now I feel like she's safe enough. It was easy enough to twist into the ground, everything seems to be made decently, and the rope is a good length.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
