Review on 📻 Metra Electronics - Subaru 2015-up (95-8907HG) Upgraded Radio Install Kit by Shawn Jimenez

I used this kit to install a Pioneer head unit on my 2016 (non-Premium) 4-door (non-Wrx) Subaru Impreza with standard climate controls. This kit looks great on the dash but I couldn't get the Pioneer unit to sit flush with the cutout so the screen is recessed into the dash a bit. This helps with highlights, but I want them to be more even. Still looking good. A note on exact matching to my model above: Installation requires removing the panels to the left of the dash and glove box. Once the panels and glove box are removed you can see two lines (metal wires or whatever you call them) on each side of the radio. They go from the back of the air conditioner to the actual manual vents that control the outside vent closing and temperature. You will need to disconnect the wires from the levers so you can remove the climate control unit from the dash. This step is a real pain in %% and time consuming. Disconnecting the electronic cables under the climate control unit is also tedious. If you have a Subaru with dual-zone digital climate control, it doesn't have stupid manual levers to turn it off and it's easier to install. Unfortunately, my Subaru is a base without electronic double air conditioning. Removing the panels also meant dangling the airbag unit that sits next to the driver's knees, and that part is a bit intimidating because you have to make sure you don't disconnect the airbag or damage the wire. Here are some things to keep in mind when doing this on your own rather than enlisting the help of a professional. If you have the money and are not willing to disassemble your own dashboard I would pay a professional to install it.
