Don't know if it matters but I used it with a gallon of Kilz. Kilz is MUCH more effective than regular paint, so we probably didn't get that smell. Once we mixed it in the paint container, it smelled like vanilla for a few seconds and then quickly dissipated. We then immediately applied paint to the walls and didn't smell the vanilla at all. We even tried to put our nose in the wall but we couldn't smell it. My son got paint on his nose from getting too close to sniff. LOL We'll try to use this again with paint that doesn't stink as much. Other people seem to be lucky, so that's probably the problem.
