***Update: Six months later I bought a second scratching post. My cat still loves it! I used the first one a lot and now it's on my balcony where my cat can rest outside. I figured it was time for a new one as it was scratched on both sides until it started falling apart. Will definitely buy a third one when the time comes. As soon as I took it out of the box my cat started scratching it like it should. He loves playing with his toys and tripping around on it, as well as lying on it to relieve stress. I bought a small/cheap cardboard scraper first to see if he would use it before buying a more expensive one like this one. The cat scratching post was a great purchase and I was very surprised at how strong and heavy it is. My cat can still push it on the hardwood floor (which I think he likes), but he has enough room to climb up for a good scratch and stretch. He is a 12 pound Siamese.
