CoolStream DuoWork. My old Bose SoundDock salvaged from sale

I rarely leave reviews (mostly lazy) and buy enough product to know the good from the bad. So for me, taking the time to write a review means that the product really has to be as good as it is made out to be. I have two Bose SoundDock systems, one wired and one battery, but both came with the old 30-pin connector and after switching to newer Lightning connector phones, these speakers were uncomfortable to use. I purchased one of the Apply 30 pin to Lightning cables, but while it worked, I was uncomfortable using it at best. I was ready to ditch speakers and started looking for newer Bluetooth speakers when it suddenly occurred to me if 30-pin Bluetooth adapters existed (like I ever doubted). I found two that seemed to me to be the best value based on reviews, cost, etc. In the end I settled on the Coolstream Duo, although I was concerned about some reviews that said the phone's distance from the adapter is very limited. but i thought i could work around that. In any case, let's get to the point of the evaluation. Simply put, the product works and works well. Connected to the SoundDock, turned on, turned on Bluetooth on the phone, found Coolstream and clicked connect. So easy. After a few seconds, music started playing from the speaker. I live in a two story townhouse and walked to the extreme point on the second floor and ran about 30 feet (straight line) between me and CoolStream. My wife below stated that the music never missed a beat. I feel like the cost of that adapter basically gave those old SoundDocks a second life - I think I saw Bose smile (honestly!). I hate getting rid of something that's still useful just because another technology has appeared. I already have a Bluetooth headset so I haven't tested this functionality and can't comment on it, but it wasn't a selling point for me. A backpack I installed in my car to use my old 30 pin iPod through the car stereo. I connected CoolStream to a wired cable and my phone played music perfectly; Again, the Apple adapter cable does not have to be plugged in again. CoolStream works, the price is right. There's nothing more to say about it, except that I'll order a second one to leave it in the car.

Pros
  • WORKS WITH all iPhone models, Android phones and any other bluetooth enabled device. Compatible with Victory Motorcycle iPod cable.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
