More moss for the price but color/clarity/quality issues

Let me know that I am an artist and I am using this for an artwork/decor that I am making from scratch. I ordered reindeer moss (actually a lichen/fungus) from Norwegian (origin) sellers on Etsy. While the price per ounce/pound can be higher, the quality is MUCH higher. I decided to try an alternative to save on costs by purchasing this moss. As soon as I opened the box (I ordered Green 3) I immediately noticed that the moss was the wrong color. It looked more yellow than green. I returned it for that. In the end I decided to go with another color (Green 2 and not available on PRIME for some strange reason) and with the new/different color I had some doubts: 1. This moss is not permanently colored and I'm not talking about natural color variations. The dyeing process used was very inconsistent for individual pieces and some of them were clearly a color that came from a different product/dye (looks like 'Green 6'). This moss is a bit dirty. And when I say dirty, I mean a few dirt tracks and the like, but mostly all the rabble in the moss. I'm talking about several different types of plants growing/growing in/through the moss. Since I was dedicated to the big project using this material, I spent HOURS pulling out all those extraneous twigs, plants, seeds, dirt, little black hairs and cutting off the discolored areas. Pictures are shown, you can see some examples of what I mean above. The pile on the paper plate is some of the 'junk' I pulled out of the batch (with a 'nice' piece of moss next to it for reference). Finally, I may need more for an upcoming project, so I'm reluctant to order another batch just to keep the same color throughout the artwork I'm creating. If you're less picky than me, this is a worthy offer. If you want a flawless and consistent look, you might be better off looking elsewhere.

Pros
  • Care Instructions: We sell moss in cans. This is not fresh moss. This is a "dead" moss that we repainted with other solutions to soften it. So you don't have to water it or "plant" it with soil. This is just decorative moss that stays green forever. You don't need a top cover. In fact, people usually use canned moss with glue.
