Review on πŸ“ KUM 306.44.22 Magnesium Ellipse Pencil Sharpener with 1-Hole - Inner Sharpener by Kelsey Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small but effective manual pencil sharpener

After trying many small manual pencil sharpeners including the official Prismacolor Ellipse sharpener which looks almost identical to Koum ( and which I just found out was actually made by Koum) - I've pretty much given up on those things, relying mostly on my trusty electric pencil sharpener. Most tiny sharpeners would at best freshen up a dull point, but if the lead broke (or you needed to sharpen a new pencil) they would pretty much shave the wood or chew the ends, without giving a decent and even peak. If I knew that back then If Koum had made my Prismacolor sharpener he wouldn't have ordered it! Boy am I glad I had no idea! Maybe the German company has improved the processing of the blades or something, because this little sharpener really only works with a few turns. I didn't have to sharpen the new flat pencil, but I'm sure it will get the job done when needed. I really wanted to have a small PORTABLE sharpener that would fit in the slot of a pencil case or purse without taking up too much space and also have a shaving compartment. Although the compartment is quite small, you can still carefully sharpen a couple of pencils until the compartment is empty. If the sharpener dulls with use (I literally have HUNDREDS of pencils) I will definitely order this sharpener again or try replacement blades the company makes if they make them for this model. I don't have big pencils, so I just need a pinhole sharpener.

Pros
  • Ellipse Internal 1-hole sharpener is unbreakable and made from magnesium alloy
