Review on 🐟 Seachem PhosBond - Effective Phosphate and Silicate Remover for Aquariums by Stephanie Davis

Phosguard works much better in my tank than Phosbond

It didn't work in my tank. I have a lightly planted 37 gallon aquarium that is not overcrowded with fish. I used Seachem's Phosguard and it worked. But I decided to give it a try because I thought it would be better, stronger, and last longer. But that's not the case. As soon as I switched Fosguard to Fosbond, hair started to grow in the aquarium immediately. I followed all the instructions and placed it tightly packed in a small filter bag on top of my canister filter to ensure it couldn't roll against itself as Phosguard instructions require. After 4 days I turned it off as needed as my phosphate levels still hadn't dropped and my hair condition hadn't improved. After switching to a new Phosphobond and another partial water change, the hair continued to grow and the phosphates still didn't decrease. Eventually I switched back to Phosguard and my tank started going back to how it was before I tried it. I'm not saying it didn't work for others, it just didn't work in my tank.

Pros
  • For both salt and fresh water
Cons
  • Hard to tell
