I don't understand why people think this lamp needs a dimmable bulb. Any 40W bulb will do, as the bulb will automatically reduce its output depending on which level you set (touch). The lowest setting gives a warm, soft light of around 10W, the second setting is another warm, soft light of around 20W, and the brightest setting is very bright at 40W. Just make sure you get a candelabra bulb . These bulbs are the correct base size to fit the bulb, don't worry about the G16.5 measurement. You can pick them up at most major hardware and retail stores. Let's get to the rating. Great lamp for the price! Professional design, well thought out, doesn't look cheap and doesn't feel cheap. The description is a bit misleading when it says you can change the light level simply by touching the base. Any part of the hand holding the lamp allows you to change the settings. You can also reverse the angle of the lamp from straight down to 90 degrees outward, but only in a straight line, no side-to-side movement.
