I have used Stay-brite 8 to fix leaks in my mini split and my friends mini splits. Drain the R410a refrigerant from the pre-charged compressor (there are 2 set screws to loosen after you have assembled and evacuated the system). The system is to be sealed with an O-ring in the grub screws, which are tightened with a small shoulder. Both of our systems were leaking and from what I see online it's not uncommon for this type of valve to leak after a while. We removed the set screw (I had to remove the lock ring first) and removed the o-ring from the set screw. We cleaned the set screw and fitting, cleaned the fittings and tightened the set screw about 1.5 turns. We soldered the set screw with Stay-brite 8. Although only one of the two locking screws was leaking, we disassembled and soldered both since the system was empty. Both systems have worked flawlessly for the past 2 months with no charge loss. The perfect solution to an annoying problem.
