Having been a RayBan fan and owner for most of my life I was pleased with the typical lifespan when I could afford to own one buy (17 years old). of these sunglasses is at least 20-25 years. They last a long time if you take care of them (e.g. polish and clean, protect lenses from scratches, tighten screws from time to time). Some people just bang them together, but then wonder why they break. The challenge when looking for a replacement (hence the name of the review) is making sure you get the right size. Contrary to popular belief, glasses are like shoes - they have to fit the person's face. The thing is, I ordered 52mm aviator goggles for my wife when hers ended up falling apart and no amount of maintenance was able to put them back together. Since she owned hers before flight school, it has more than paid for itself. However, 52mm was too small even for her petite face. I found out later that I needed the 58mm size. Trying to find a 58mm model with a support bar (a cross over the nose) and cable shackles (instead of the usual solid earhooks) was difficult, to say the least. Luckily, Revain made things easy and I found the right style and frame. It's all black instead of the classic gold frame, but otherwise the hostess is happy (and so am I, by definition). This is a great purchase at a good price. The delivery was on time and well packaged. The only minor criticism is that the quality of the leather case seems to have diminished over the years. Due to normal use (daily opening/closing when stored in a vehicle), the snap fastener has started to wear out where it is sewn into the body flap. We're just going to swap it out for an older case that has good fatigue properties but still locks in place reliably to this day.
