I drive a 2018 Rav4 and the bumper on the car is bent. This ramp does not go well with the curved bumper. I ended up having to put a piece of wood under the handlebars so they could rest on the trunk instead of the bumper. Not all bumpers are designed to take the weight of a ramp and a dog, and this ramp would only work if placed directly on top of the bumper. Some trucks and large SUVs have heavier bumpers that can withstand some weight. After adding the wooden plank to position the ramp properly, I tried to get my Senior Golden to use the ladder. He couldn't get up that ramp at all. The steps are not made of aluminium, but the frame is. The black part of the steps give a bit and it looks like there is a thin piece of wood or cardboard sewn in between the rubber/plastic material that makes up the steps. They are also much narrower than they appear in the picture. They are definitely not suitable for an older dog with stability problems. Also, like the other reviewer, I have to question the adjustable height aspect of the stairs. It doesn't look stable unless stretched to its full length. Unfortunately, this purchase did not fit my car or my dog.
