I got this as a tool to customize some kitchen knives and others. I have other sharpeners and they are either too aggressive or not sharp enough. This system seems to me to give the optimal balance between sharpening and maintaining the blade without damaging the blade. Setting it up was a bit tricky and reading the instructions (albeit very detailed) might seem overwhelming. Knowing what I was trying to do and having at least a basic knowledge of how to sharpen a blade on a blade, I was able to quickly set it up myself and within minutes I was putting blade on blade slicing through a free hanging leaf. paper with ease. I would give 5 stars if assembly was easier and the components weren't just loose in the box (bolts and nuts etc.), bagged and easily lost.
