A silicone brush is included in the kit which is primarily intended to lubricate the cups but I highly recommend it as the oil doesn't stay on the sides where it needs it most. Apply solid or coconut oil instead (whatever stays where it's applied), otherwise the egg whites will stick to the sides. Nevertheless, the egg white does NOT soak, so "just throw it in the dishwasher". as I said, it doesn't work either; You have to clean them first. I return them and cook them in mugs in the microwave (lots of YouTube videos on this) - much easier to clean, no pot of boiling water to lower floating mugs etc.
