This product is fine. I bought 6 of these for my small fleet of kayaks that my friends/family and I use. Of the six, I had to retie three in less than a full day. Most of the shrink tubing over the knots came loose. A strap to wrap around the paddle shaft is fine. I think it would be better without the 1/2 turn. After all, these things weren't expensive and they did what they needed to do. You have to be careful with the knots though, if they come undone the line won't do you any good until you tie it again.
