Review on 🧽 Meguiar's DFC6 Soft Buff DA Foam Cutting Disc - 6 Inch, 1 Pack by Jay Campbell

All work was done on my 2005 E46 which is known to have a harder finish compared to Japanese cars. I prepared the surface by washing it with two buckets and sanding it with clay. I did not perform chemical decontamination. This review was written by a person who got bored during the pandemic and decided to make his own connection and polish his car. I was between that pillow and Griot's orange pillow. My biggest concern was that it was a lot thinner and might have durability issues. After 4.5 hours of mixing I can say that it held up perfectly. I brushed it fairly casually and it held without the foam breaking. I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound for both lasts. I primed them completely using Apex Detail's YouTube videos and followed his one pass polishing method to see what results I could get. The DA polisher used was a Bauer 7.5 AMP DA which you can obtain from your local port charter. The vibration with the griot pad was strong and quite tiring at 4-5. It was practically non-existent on the Red Slim Pad. After mastering my technique, I made half my hood with Griot and the other half with Meguiar. Because of the reduced vibration, I felt the Meguiar's had a lot more control, leading to more confidence when adding pressure. I will say that I believe the pads can probably achieve the same result BUT the Griot may last longer. On the plus side of the Griot, they are more forgiving and trainable, while the Meguiar has a slight learning curve, albeit slightly more than the Griot. I've had better results with Meguiar's and then used Ultimate Polish. Between the two, I would definitely recommend Meguiar's Red Foam DA Cutting Pad for the vibration reduction and better cutting performance. It removed swirls, overspray, water etch, and a scratch that looked like someone broke into my car.
