I bought the 496 and 495 filters to filter off-road diesel fuel My new one Tractor. I hope they're never "needed" but if one of them ever snags something that could damage my tractor they'll pay for themselves more than once. They were easy to install and worth the security for a small price. Several people have told me that I don't need both filters, but the 496 water filter filters out water and particles down to 17 microns. The 495 filter captures down to 10 microns. With both I pick up both the water and the smallest particles without switching from one to the other and this should help the 495 filter last longer as the larger particles should already be caught upstream.
