I used to have another hammock shaped rear seat cover but it had no sides. like this one does. With the others I noticed that over time the sides of my door panels got very dirty and my dogs leaned on the doors. What a difference it makes that the sides have zippers! My seats are well protected because the material is so strong. I also like the mesh opening in the center that can be pulled up and down as needed. The mesh is a much thicker material than I expected so I'm very happy with it. I would categorically NOT use the seat belt hook/strap that comes with the kit. The hook/strap would be practically useless in a car crash as the hook and strap just don't seem strong enough (for my large dogs anyway). A simple tip: if you use a dog harness, always use it. It depends on your dog wearing a safety dog harness and never attaching it to a collar around their neck. I think Meadowlark mentions this in their written instructions as well. ***The included car headrest covers are really big and I think could have been a bit smaller for a better fit, but I don't care that much and that's why I haven't bought a car seat cover for the first time. Place. But they do their job. Overall I love this car seat cover and my two German Shepherds like it too! I will always buy one with sides now.
