My car got new tires and rims after an accident. Before I left, I got a tire pressure warning. I put the car back in the park and went to ask the store manager. They said I might have to drive the car to turn on the computer and if that doesn't fix the problem I can return it. I've never had to do this at a dealer, but I went home and decided to investigate the tire pressure warning system. I returned to the store the next day because the sensor was still off. Now I've also researched my tire pressure system and found that my sensors only have to be programmed. I returned to the store with my news. The manager talks to the tire fitter and he says he programmed the sensors. I asked him if he put the car in learn mode. He said he saw it, but I watched him and he didn't. Part of my discovery was the learn mode. I didn't know this because I vowed never to work on my own car again, but knowledge is power so I went back to reading the owner's manual. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered new tires because that would be the cure. I also went home and looked for a way to program my tires myself. I found this tool and a video that tells me how to do it. My tires were programmed in less than 5 minutes. I went in and emailed the manager the link to this tool and the youtube video I was using and offered to share it with my techs. I don't even know how much this device cost me, but I do know that it saved me $300 that I would have had to spend on two more new tires that I don't need.
