Review on Sea Dog Line - 426880-1 Sea Dog Polarized 2-Wire Plug and Socket Connector by Jarrett Love

They are advertised as 16 gauge. (I checked the Sea Dog website prior to purchase to confirm the 16-gauge description that appears in the Q&A section of the Revain page for this product. It also says "16-gauge" on the packaging.) As when they arrived, I immediately saw that the wire looked more like 18 gauge. I cut the wire, took out the micrometer, and found that the copper wire was .042" in diameter (which meets 18 gauge specs), not .0508. This is a requirement that the wire be marked 16 gauge. I would like to add that there is no "AWG" rating on the cable, but a few Chinese words. Eventually I bought two. You connect and separate wonderfully. The other is almost impossible to fully connect and disconnect. Very disappointed in every aspect of my purchase. If I hadn't run out of time I would have returned. My project only draws 1.5 amps so 16 gauge is overkill, but the rest of the system was wired for 16 gauge and I wanted to stay stable. Thanks Sea Dog for ruining everything!
