Honestly I like how this item looks in my apartment. It's large (sorry I can't add a better photo, I've got an AC floor unit blocking the lower shelves right now) and I think the combination of the glossy finish on the boards and the matte black metal bars makes it a great statement piece. I don't have anything heavy on my shelf right now, but I think it seems pretty solid and I've even considered buying it again for my guest bedroom. I assembled it by myself in 30 minutes or less. The instructions are very user friendly and even if they weren't, the assembly is so easy you should be able to figure it all out. The packaging was minimal (although I wish there was less styrofoam as it can't be recycled) and broke easily. A little heavy, but that's to be expected.
