I had trouble getting used to this knife at first as the knife I had previously used for similar tasks had a much narrower blade. However, after a while I have to say that this design is great. It's very sharp out of the box. With my use, I need to sharpen about once a month. In combination with a good sharpener, the knife does not have to be heavily used. I can't think of any "cons" for this knife. All I can think of is that the handle of the knife is made of plastic and the knife is very light. If any of these could be an issue for you, look elsewhere. EDIT: The knife still works great and I use the knife for small tasks. From time to time you have to resharpen, which is not surprising.
