This sun hat protects eyes and skin perfectly from the bright sun, even in the tropics. The scarf can be untied to hang down the back and sides to protect the neck, similar to a hijab. If the wind threatens to blow your hat off your head, there is a button under the chin to fasten the scarf. I wish the button was closer for a snug fit. I would also prefer a selection of scarf prints. The scarf my tan beanie was worn on has a lot of orange in it which doesn't really complement my wardrobe. Update 3 years later: I still use this hat, I really like it. Two suggestions for manufacturers: 1. The hat really needs a chin strap in the wind; 2. The thin strips of plastic that hold the edges in place always come out of their channels: an annoyance.
