Review on 🚲 CST TB96835000 Bicycle Tire, 29x2/3 Inch by Jeremy Jackz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not a true 3 " tire but an impressive plus tire nonetheless.

I bought this 29er Plus a few months ago and wanted to put a few miles on it before writing a review. After I did that After going through it I can attest to the benefits of buying the CST BFT+29er.With little online information about the CST (Cheng Shin tires, the parent company of Maxxis) I had trouble finding tire specs for the BFT.Here is what you get: First, it's a 29 x 2.8" (622 x 70mm) tire, not a true 3" tire. For a WTB i29 rim, the size is around 66-70mm depending on air pressure. that is closer to 3" on a 50+mm rim, but keep in mind that the size given is an optimist. This was perfect for me as I mounted it on the front of a Karate Monkey and just wanted something more than the stock 2.4's on the market. Also note that despite a 2.8 width, due to the 30" overall diameter, you will never put it on the back of a bike unless you have a true 29er Plus frame. The tire has a fast-rolling, XC-style tread without the massive side lugs of a Maxxis Ardent or other trail tires. They still offer insane grip and cornering at relatively low pressure (I use it under 20psi). Its thick, heavy sidewall and hard rubber compound, insults I get when riding rocky trails at low pressures per square inch. In terms of weight, it's wire bead and doesn't have thin sidewalls, so yes, it's not the lightest tire on the market, but in any case that's hardly an advantage of the 29er Plus. Overall, I cannot recommend the BFT 29er Plus highly enough. At $60-$100 plus tires, a quality 29x2.8 for about $30 is a great find. The rollover and ride quality of these big tires should be noticeable. to be appreciated. Get them while they last!
