This set contains three items: 1) Manual corkscrew with pneumatic pump; 2) foil cutter; 3) automatic vacuum wine cabinet. All three are housed in a plain brown box, along with a reward card to leave a photo review on Revain. 1) Manual pocket wine corkscrew with air pump. This is my first time using this device and it works quickly and efficiently. Basically, an air pump is a tube about the width of a lipstick tube and about twice as long. You simply unscrew the top where the long pin is attached, flip it over to screw into the base, and insert the pin all the way into the wine bottle's cork. Once the needle is inserted into the cork, manually pump it up and down from the base, building pressure in the wine bottle until the cork pops out. According to the instructions, it takes 4 to 5 clicks to pop the cork, and my first bottle of wine broke the cork in four clicks. On first use it can be a little disconcerting to see the cork popping out of a wine bottle like uncorking a bottle of champagne - with quite a bit of pressure. The pressure wasn't enough to knock it out of my hand, but yeah, it "claps" quite a bit. Pretty smart. I was impressed 2) foil cutter. The foil knife is fairly standard and is included with most other types of wine openers. It was sharp enough to cut through foil perfectly in one pass and did the job well. 3) Automatic vacuum wine cabinet. This device is essentially a bottle stopper that fits over the top of a wine bottle and removes excess air/oxygen from the bottle creating a suction/closure that helps preserve the wine's longevity. According to the instructions, using this device should keep your bottle of wine at the optimum level for 14 days, not several days under normal circumstances. The automatic wine saver requires two AAA batteries, which are not included. One battery is inserted upside down, the other upside down. Once the batteries are in, there is a lid that covers the entire device. After opening a wine bottle, simply place the vacuum wine stopper on the bottle and press all the way down. At the top of the cap you will see a small round dot (indicator) in the center that will turn from blue to green when all the oxygen/air has been removed from the bottle and you have made a tight seal. This function takes about 15 seconds. The vacuum cap is easy to remove from the bottle when you are ready to pour from the bottle again, and then simply reinsert the cap as you did the first time to reseal the bottle. Pretty smooth. I have never used a battery operated wine/bottle stopper so I think the technology is smart, useful and functional. This is a great little set for the price and an added value for any wine lover. It appears that all three items were made by different manufacturers and bundled together in a gift set in a brown box; So I'd recommend making the set giftable - perhaps with versatile packaging that's ideal for holiday gifts and for all occasions. Instructions are included but difficult to read due to small print.
