Black Magic is the best of hubs

This little guy is pure magic and does a great job solving a problem I have. I have an HP Pavilion laptop that I use fairly frequently. It has 4 USB ports and I find that very limited considering how many things I plug into my base station. My list of peripherals includes: Logitech nano mouse, iPod, laptop cooling pad, Cannon printer, SimpleTech remote hard drive, and Hauppauge WinTV HVR. That's 6 items for 4 ports, then add a flash drive, which I use fairly regularly, and I switch USB ports frequently (not to mention the constant daily ritual of unplugging in the morning and plugging back in at night ). This hub has solved these problems, I work smoothly with all peripherals connected to the hub (the mouse button stays on the laptop, it's so small that it never needs to be removed). I disconnect in the morning and reconnect at night; direct power from the hub means I can charge my iPod without a laptop. The only downside I have at the moment is the length of the cord on the PSU (less than a meter I think); Luckily I have an outlet next to my desk and all the USB cables are long enough to reach them. Bottom line the powered USB 2.0 hub saves me time and clutter around my laptop, nice glossy black finish, worth the price in my opinion. P-)

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
