There is no rubber grommet so I would recommend putting a couple of layers of tape where you plan to mount it. Also, as you begin to tighten the screw, I would recommend that you squeeze and hold the two parts of the fastener together and use your other hand to tighten the screw. It seemed that as I let the bolt pull the parts together, there was a wild torque split that honestly felt like the bolt might break. The lower mount works fantastic too, the Bontrager headlight mount installed with no problems.
