The base itself seems solid but I agree with other reviewers who say that you should not lean on the very part of the chair. I don't think it will break, but it looks like it will turn into noodles and bend (😂). I don't want to test this, but I hope no one has ever come across this! All in all I think it was a good buy! I bought the "used" version (around $42-45) as I don't want to pay $60-$100+ for most things (I've tested a lot of these chairs!). 😅 I've wanted these chairs for years (yes, YEARS!) and I'm glad I finally took the plunge! Minimalist Scandinavian "white with light wood" decor is just magical! Det er så godt (It's so good!)!
