This is a great little pencil sharpener with an original design at a surprisingly affordable price. . The lack of a suction cup on the bottom of the sharpener confused me until I read the instructions and realized it wasn't needed. Simply insert the pin firmly but as gently as possible, then release the pin. Place one hand on the sharpener to hold it in place and use the other hand to turn the knob clockwise. The sharpener automatically pulls the pencil further inward to sharpen the pencil. When the pencil is sharp, you will feel the pen move without resistance. Then simply turn the handle counter-clockwise and the pencil will be released from the sharpener. It's perfect for basic use in my wife and I's home office. It would also be strong enough for a home school family. I'm not sure how well the sharpener will hold up to everyday use in a class of 20-30 kids. I liked it so much I bought a second one for a friend who homeschools her kids.
