This remote worked perfectly for our old first generation 42 inch Vizio flat screen TVs. One is the original 720p version and a slightly newer one is the 1080p version. The one I just bought (on the left in both pictures) is similar to the one I bought a few months ago (in the middle in both pictures). They are both the same SHAPE and CONFIGURATION as the original Vizio controller that came with our TVs (right side of both images but lacks the "VIZIO" embossed on the front and back plastic). The original controller, so these are fakes, not originals. The battery compartment (second photo) is also different in that the original controller had "+" and "-" signs, to correctly accommodate 2 x AA batteries to be installed on the metal contact plate. Unlike the controller I ordered a few months ago, there is a piece of white cardboard inside the battery compartment that indicates polarity for proper battery installation. I assumed it would be the same as the original controller and it was. So if you get one of these without correct polarity, you can try the original Viz io controller battery insertion schematic. At least in my case this polarity worked correctly and so far this controller has worked flawlessly with no further setup steps hence the overall 5 star rating.
