Decent WiFi Camera

Update 3/2020: I've been using them for a while and they work great, but recently I ran into a strange problem. If you record to a micro SD card when the card is full. They cannot play videos and their app/website does not recognize the card. I had to take the card out and reformat it, then I was back in business. I was told on tech support that the card is bad, apparently this doesn't happen often? Available for internal and external models. Overall I'm still very satisfied. Pretty easy setup, the Apple app sucks. I'm still learning the basics, but I suspect the ongoing connectivity issues are between the app and the camera, not the camera and my network. I have this connected via WiFi and if it works I plan on getting some outdoor cameras. I'm not sure yet if I would recommend this. I will update when I go. First update: The app is still pretty bad. Everything started to work better when I enabled internet access, which seems odd and a bit disconcerting. There is a lag on the WiFi, but the audio is decent. The video jumps around a bit and the latency on my LAN is sometimes 1 to 4 seconds. The account you register to connect this camera to the Internet does not allow the use of special characters, so the passwords are weak, which in turn worries the security device. It wants to communicate with AWS but hasn't noticed any other external IPs showing up in my firewall logs. It seems to have a ton of features and is pretty easy to set up. Not ready to move up from 2 stars yet. Second update: Amcrest had an issue with its cloud service today and it has brought this issue to its knees. A connection to the app could not be established. Pretty disappointed in this camera as I haven't used it in over a week. Third update: ok it grows for me. The app is difficult to navigate It's not that intuitive and you have to spend a lot of time browsing forums and watching videos to use advanced features. Installing a 64G memory card will automatically unlock many Easter eggs, such as Easter eggs. B. motion recording. Viewing recordings seemed impossible until I watched a video on how to do it. Upgraded to 3 stars but I really wish there was a better app for it. It is also somewhat confusing that there is a separate login for the camera, There is an amcrest site for setting up the camera and the amcrest cloud, each with different access data and password rules. And you need IE to use their website because it requires an ActiveX control. If it had connected better and had a UX expert fix the app, I would probably go for 5 stars. there is a separate login for the camera, the amcrest site for camera setup and the amcrest cloud, each with different credentials and password rules. Pros
  • Secure video backup in the cloud. Amcrest Cloud's optional remote video storage subscription service allows you to automatically save video off-site to a third-party location hosted and secured by Amazon AWS. This way, if something happens to your local PC/DVR/SD card/NAS, the footage is securely recorded in a safe remote location and is available to you via the Flash web interface for PC (Windows and MAC) (Chrome/Firefox/Safari/ Edge) and Amcrest Cloud smartphone app
Cons
  • Long delivery time
