Use bulky flux with it, works great

I used it to solder aluminum leads on a Tesla ribbon cable 3. It worked well for the first two pads, but then not so well. When I used this with unmanaged aluminum flux it matched perfectly and worked great.

Pros
  • Lead Free
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Works great in solder and flux

Before I give just one star but now testing it with a really great soldering station and setting it to 480 degrees Celsius works fine so I'm giving five stars now If you If you want to get good results from this product, you'll have to scratch the surface to get great results.

Pros
  • Melts at 430 F
Cons
  • Pretty ok

Works great for soldering

I used to only give one star but now I'm testing with a really great soldering station and the 480 degree Celsius setting works well so I'm giving now five stars for this product, if you want good results you have to scratch the surface to get great results.

Pros
  • Consistent results when tested
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

The thing really works!

This is a real plumb bob, not a pole. I don't know what's in the flux, but it contains NO LEAD and will bond to aluminum. I ran this bead over the photo, then let it cool and tried to scrape the bead off with pliers. It went nowhere. The worst I can say is that you will need a pencil torch as even a 60 watt soldering iron does not generate enough heat at the junction to overcome the heat build up of aluminium.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great Price

That does not work. waste of money.

I've been soldering for about 30 years. mostly electronics. Recently I needed to solder a small aluminum plate (2" x 2.5" x 1/8"). I prepared the surface, heated it with a torch and applied this solder. The flux came out as expected, that Solder melted as expected Cut the aluminum and don't stick to the aluminum surface Try a few more times, gradually increasing the temperature to the point where my material has melted, and doesn't go.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
