Aqua Flo 12-Inch Pond & Aquarium Filter Media, 6-Foot Long x 1-Inch Thick (Pink/White) Review

I tried it for outdoor pond use and it didn't work. I know it shouldn't be for ponds, but other aquarium roll filters work well, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's too thin, large particles you encounter from the outside will pass through it.

I have a custom built 75 gallon paludarium filter with a water bank of about 35 gallons and 3 sliders that really fouls the water. I have to replace it every 3 days but I want to wash and use it again, I've washed one piece about 5 times and it continues to do the job with no signs of wear.

I really like this filter mat on my 150 reef tank. It's finer mesh than the regular blue we're used to, done, but when you have an algal bloom like mine, it clogs quickly. No problem with the pillow, shall we say. I recommend it for a well-functioning system, but you may want to use cheaper materials if you have a lot of algae or very dirty water. In general it works great, you just want more for the money.

I like using these little fingers instead of activated carbon filters! It works in a very similar way, only without coal. I use a Marineland Penguin 200 filter and buy activated carbon filters at $4 for 6 filters. Now, instead of making this big purchase, I bought a container of charcoal chips and just hung it in a fishing net on the corner of the tank when the water was looking foggy and used a small filter to catch all the little debris. Excellent purchase. and save money!

I use this for my 4x8x2 pond. I cut the pieces and then store them in the pond shed. It took two years to use a roll. I wash filters once a day. The filter gets thinner and stretches from the hose flushing, but I just cut them shorter and then use the excess to double them up, which is the same as the original part. I hope I explained it well enough! Felt picks up fine dirt perfectly. Thanks to this inexpensive product, my pond is always clean!

This pink filter material is 1 inch thick. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. You can see in my photo it's 1/2 inch thick. 50% smaller than described, that's a big difference. I would buy another backing instead of doubling this one to make it 1 inch and double the cost. It should be delivered the next day.
