It is what it is and it works great. I don't know why they say it.

It is what it is and works great. I don't know why they say it's a gallon because it isn't. To test, just fill an empty jug with one of the 4 pouches I have and you'll get just over half (4 stars for that). However, it is cheap and effective.

  • Size: 10mm(D) x 7mm(H) each. Includes: 1 Gallon Moving Bed Filter Media
Cons

Excellent quality, price and fast delivery.

I really like this medium. I use it in all my aquariums. I have never had problems with ammonia and water quality. Excellent stuff. I mean the description says 1 gallon. No, it's not the full gallon that you put in the gallon jug. However, it completely fills a 1-gallon ziplock bag without wasting space. That's what I thought in the description. So you actually get quite a lot for $.

Pros
  • Self cleaning - never needs to be cleaned or replaced
Cons
  • Fits

Make sure this is the material you need.

I'm sure this material will do well for the right application. For my application I used it to create a 5 gallon biofilter on a gravity fed downcomer. This carrier is so small and light that it got caught in the pipes when cleaning. Also, the clumps around the pipe holes clog them up and they float, giving me a layer of useless medium over those in the water. I'm sure they work fine when set up correctly, but if you have the same setup as mine, they were too much of a hassle. I removed them and

Exactly as described. I measured a gallon of water and set the line. Then I poured out some water and poured them into a bucket. It is exactly 1 gallon medium. Don't listen to comments that say it doesn't work. This has nothing to do with the media. If your tank is healthy it will work. Even cut straws collected bacteria. They don't turn brown like regular media because they're designed to knock down solids if dropped. If you are looking for 1 gallon K2 fluid bed filter media, look no further…
