Good for field service

Fulfill their purpose well. Do not use oil, only water/saliva. One of the two will always be available. I wish they were stamped around the edges for strength, but that's a small convenience I may be overlooking. Makes a good blade for your knife in the field. I wouldn't use it as a primary sharpening tool at home, but you can probably get away with it depending on how well cared for and how heavily your knives are used.

The best way to sharpen your favorite pocket knife!

Received my Arkansas stones (medium and fine) quickly and sharpened my Uncle Henry as soon as I came out of the mailbox. I soaked the stones in water and sharpened the knife on the kitchen table. It was funny because I sharpened my knife the day before I flew to another state for work. They took my knives because I forgot to leave them at home. I've carried a pocket knife since I was 10 years old. These stones brought my Uncle Henry back to life.

I've only ever used it with water or saliva as I figured I'd never be without one or the other and it worked well although I can try the oil now. I have nothing but good things to say about the stone and when I accidentally dropped it on the…
