One of the barrel screw holes was not deep enough and it took my husband brute force to finally push it deep enough for the screw to go through. Hard to find many frames in Twin XL - very happy with this one. Does NOT creak when you sit on it like the metal bed frame it replaces. Attractive with nice finishes, seems solid (after one night it doesn't look like it will shake after the hardware though), it was easy to put together - my teenager managed it (but it did take two people to move the pieces of wood without positioning damage). However, I bought two for guests, put everything together and didn't realize that the planks come in two packages. So we only received 5 out of 6 packages. I should have listened to the reviews but I was hoping I would be lucky. Unfortunately I encountered the same problems. The pieces I received didn't have holes where they needed to be and that was clearly stated in the instructions. I'm not an idiot - I assemble furniture all the time so it's not human error. Very attractive. I chose the queen size. No paint problems, cracks or chips. A 50-inch taller headboard and a choice of higher or lower ride height. I chose higher, i.e. 14”. With a 12 inch mattress, the bed sits 26 inches off the floor. A big plus for me was the taller headboard and adjustable ride height, which are hard to find on platform beds.
