No longer shipped from China and a question for the owners

Nice construction. The "lock handle" doesn't do anything and I'm wondering if I'm missing a detail. I assumed, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that the handlebars could be tilted up, down or tilted. The part I'm talking about is the part I'm referring to in Fig. It only snaps to 1 side of 1 bracket in 1 of 2 positions but doesn't seem to grab the rudder at all. I've seen several other very similar handlebar systems that didn't have a lock button.

It keeps my kayak right in the water

It works! I bought a used Hobie kayak and there are no handlebars. I can't keep it straight in the lagoon, it wobbles left or right and sometimes spins in circles. I bought this one (Borogo Kayak Rudder) and wow! The kayak can now go straight! I cut the pin off with a handsaw to make it smooth and then installed it on the back of the kayak with two metal screws. I don't stretch a rope to unroll it. Instead I just roll it out manually when I put the kayaks in the lagoon. It's easy and…

Great price, difficult to assemble

I asked my local store how much the handlebar set for my $400 kayak was. The steering wheel kit was supposed to cost me $350 so I decided to look elsewhere. I came across this product and decided to give it a try. After weeks of fiddling around and buying some products from the hardware store, I finally installed it. The instructions don't help and it's not ready to be installed on every kayak. First use was great, it moves up and down like it should and our kayak now rides straighter than…

Good kayak handlebar

I bought this to add handlebars to my Predator 13 kayak. The OEM handlebar kit is $299. This is a very good product, comparable in quality to the steering wheel I've seen on the new Predator. Please note that no installation and operating instructions are included. However, I would recommend it to people who want to solve the problem of fitting to their kayak. After a few hours and about $100 in steering and up/down steering materials, I got a working steering wheel. By the way, the new…

Works like a skeg - watersports

I didn't really need a steering wheel, but I wanted the skeg to help with windy tracking. It does the job perfectly. I went kayaking over the weekend and even with the wind it went much better. The disadvantage of stars is that there is no spring holding them in the down position. At first I thought it was just missing and emailed the seller. I was told there is no spring in the kit. I found that I had to grab the oar and push it down. Once it's off, it stays on. This was installed on Old Town…

Sturdy material and serves its purpose. Long delivery time.

Pros: It was exactly what I needed and it wasn't expensive. I couldn't do any for that price. It seems to work well and is made of good material. Other oars are much more expensive than this one, costing almost as much as the boat. I love it and would recommend it to anyone planning to make it at home. It's not plug and play. You'll need to design the rest of the mount and steering system if you don't already have one. I am installing it on a pioneer pelican that is not designed for a rudder…

Tracking issues fixed!

Bought a Sundolphin Bali 10SS and was hooked for a day. The second time out on the water, I quickly realized that no matter what I did, the boat wasn't going to go straight. This meant I was wasting energy not only in propelling myself forward, but also in keeping the kayak level. As soon as you stop rowing, the boat will turn around. The design of this kayak also doesn't allow for very fast paddling due to the flat bottom. I hated my new kayak. Couldn't find a place that had kayaks available…

Additional function doesn't work, only the steering wheel assembly

I wouldn't call it universal. *can* work on most kayaks. I restored a cheap sea kayak. A 16 foot Chinook to be exact and I didn't want to spend $200 on a collar just yet as I wasn't sure how much handlebars would be needed in my area. 1. Shaft is too short. It needs to be about 1 inch longer to fit most kayaks. I've tightened mine up enough to be secure, but I don't necessarily like it when it's as loose as I should have let it be. Second, the rope that comes with it isn't long enough to use as
