It's the perfect tool for tongue and groove flooring!

Not sure which tool to rent or buy ? Product reviews have given me some insight, but more questions than answers. Communicating with landlords was a waste of time. In my case I ordered a nail gun from Revain which was returned after discussing my needs with a contractor/friend. In short, I chose a versatile nailer that could accommodate plank nails or staples of varying lengths. Second, thickness is very important and Bostitch BTFP 12569 uses 15.5" bottom cleats and/or 1 1/2 or 2" L-cleat deck…

Pros
  • Replacement non-scratch backing pads for floors 1/2" (12.7mm) to 3/4" (19.1mm) thick
Cons
  • Available in black only

Works great, reported performance

This nailer works very well. I use it to install 3/4" thick oak lumber and did about half the job for a total of 1200 square feet. A few points to keep in mind: 1. Minimal hammer force is required to get the nail right to loosen—if you hit hard enough, the nail will only be partially driven in. You can use more force to pull the boards together.2. You will be limited to about 8" from the edge of the wall as this device is not suitable. I used a finishing nailer for these last strips 3. You need

Pros
  • This pneumatic nailer will drive 15.5 GA ground staples or 16 GA L staples 1-1/2" to 2" long
Cons
  • I will add later

The spikes are fine, but the clamps are too tight.

Bought to help a friend make some bottoms. One was Brazilian cherry and the other was red oak. We used staples for cherries as experience has shown that they are far superior to staples on real hardwood. We used this Bostic and Old El Cheap from Port Freight. Everything seemed fine, in hindsight the Bostic set the cleats a little more than the HF Nagler but not by much. When it came time to make red oak, we wanted to use staples. Bostic set the struts MUCH lower than on the HF pistol. I assumed

Pros
  • Ergonomic long handle with comfortable rubber grip
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
