Boxtech Aquarium Filter Media Porous Review

Bought these for my husband to use in our new 135 gallon aquarium. They were well packaged and larger than I expected, but they break easily. We were able to fit some of these (disassembled) into our sump and they worked really well. A box of 30 will easily last you a while and is worth the money. This helped launch the new tank much faster. I highly recommend.

I use this foam pad with activated carbon and ammonia filters. Using it alone probably won't help your aquarium much, but a 3-stage filter is ideal. My 29 gallon tank can last up to 1 month without changing them. Just be sure to rinse well before use to remove excess dust from packaging and travel. I love how it purifies the water and continues to keep the water clean.

This material is quite long and thick, but can also be easily broken into pieces. I only needed 2.5 of these to fill my Cascade 1000's media basket and that's enough for me. Another 27.5! Although they're traditionally used in large pans, I've already found a place for them in my Eclipse 20 with a top pan, as well as my 3-gallon cubic tank with a back pan, which unexpectedly swallowed a whole one.
