Well, I received these boys pants in size 5T after my 4 year old drastically outgrew his whole pants seemingly overnight. He's a preschooler and needed comfortable pants that were easy to put on and take off and he found them perfect. And they were. Right size for him, comfortable, looked good. These are my favorite winter pants for my little one. Holds up well when washed.

I bought these for my 5 year old son who is mostly 5T tall. He's skinny so his pants need drawstrings to hold them up, especially if the pants are a bit big. The description said they had real ties and I saw a review that said they were real too so I'm very disappointed they don't. I also bought him a size recommended for 5-6 years because I didn't want them to be too small. They are so gigantic that they can grow too big in a year. They are also very thin and not soft at all.

Bought this 2 year old son for my co-worker's birthday as she badly needs elastic waist pants for the Midwest winter. Your son has a thin waist and long legs and is indeed 2t in waist but almost 3t in length. They have elastic all over the waistband, not just part of it, and the pattern is amazing. The pockets are just a bonus I think as he learns to talk and touch things. He just loves collecting pebbles, acorns, etc. All she has to do is check his pockets before loading the washing machine!
