Great alternative to tips. I did a lot of research on this as I was dying to change the silver to black to match my black rims. After a lot of research, it turned out that if you want strong grommets that won't scratch or rust, you'll need to spend about $100 for a set. Of course there are cheaper ones, but their durability is questionable. So for $25 you can replace the grommets with black ones and no one will notice they're closed. These ColorLugs vinyl caps were just what I was looking for. Instead of replacing my silver lug nuts on my black Ram's black wheels with a set of expensive new nuts, I just put caps on the stock lugs. The hubcaps give the wheels the look I've wanted since I bought the truck. It also seems like every Black Nut Review I've read has stated that they've all started to rust. ColorLugs are easy to clean. I bought size 21-23mm. They even slide over wheel locks. It was a great purchase.

This is a good product and most people can't tell it's just a vinyl cover on the nuts. They are not easy to remove at all, I bought a set with a puller. I'm not sure if they have ever used it themselves as there is no way to use it to grab both sides of the light cap. I would use just one end to pull the lid off a little, pinch the side and pull up a little and keep going until it pops off. I powder coated the wheels when I bought the car and loved the way they looked but wasn't a fan of the silver lugs.
