Yupppp. Instead of a watch, I have an Android tablet on this stand. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm thinking about repainting the base with a darker color or maybe antique white color. This is a good height to hold a cookbook or a tablet running a cooking app, with the right angle to reduce neck strain. In fact, I haven't found any other product that has this height and angle. If anyone found a similar product please correct me; I know several people who need a product like this but

I think I thought it would be heavier and more library/museum quality, especially for $70 when others can be bought a lot cheaper. Yes, it has a 'look', but it's lightweight and requires assembly. After measuring the dimensions I knew it wouldn't be as tall as the book I wanted it for (14 inches high), but it still seems smaller than advertised. Cherry? Maybe it's the stain color. This is a light wood, probably pine. Maybe I like it better and I put a really big book on it and it was ok.
