The soft pen will become sticky over time

The knife is otherwise fine but after 5 years the molded soft gray vinyl (or similar plastic) became sticky. It's useless now. Yes, every cutlery or kitchen knife should always last longer. It is a pity that the engineer chose poor materials, which deteriorate significantly over time.

Pros
  • It's OK!
Cons
  • Negative present

I'm a mobile catering business and always have my knife bag with me. As said before, this is out of all the high end knives in this sheath. This is the 7 inch Dexter Santoku pulled out first. If all my knives were somehow lost, this one would be replaced first. Bulletproof Dexter Russell blades with innovative handle, light weight and secure grip, perfection.

Pros
  • Good grades for stability and durability from testers
Cons
  • Something is wrong

Excellent knife, best cutlery and knife accessories

I received this knife for Christmas a few days ago. I'm surprised at how sharp the blade is right out of the box. I had no problem slicing the large steaks I cooked for dinner. The knife is well balanced and very comfortable to use. The size is perfect for my needs right now, but I think I'll be buying some of the other knives Dexter-Russell makes. I also really appreciate that this product is made here in the USA, which is too rare these days. I will recommend this knife to my friends and…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • too boring

I loved this knife for the year it was sharp. The handle is very comfortable for me with a disability. For now, though, I've achieved what I think is called "guntons" of combs in a knife. It can no longer be properly sharpened. Instead of offering me a new knife, the company offers to send them my $40 knife to sharpen. Anyone who uses knives as often as I do knows that more than sharpening a knife that I have to send to the company is pointless. Hats off to you, Dexter Russell, for not standing

This is a very good knife (see reviews) and a great knife.

I have a Zwilling Pro 8" chef's knife. It's a very good knife (read the reviews) and costs $120. I've used both knives (Dexter and Zwilling) for I can almost feel guilty for choosing Dexter over Gemini about seventy-five percent of the time. It's perfect for thinly slicing onions or tomatoes, or any medium to light veg that won't stick to the knife due to the santoku nicks in the style by the way I classify this knife as a Santoku/Chef hybrid Both knives are very sharp and easy to hold with a…

Great knife in the kitchen and dining room

I have used traditional white handled Dexter Russel knives for many years and find them excellent - my current 9" white chef's knife has lasted over 10 years. This knife is from a newer "v-lo" series which is even better. The knife feels great in the hand. the handle lies very well in the hand and is set far enough away from the blade that the knuckles of my rather large hand do not hit the cutting board when cutting with the roller. Slightly rubberized handle material ensures a good grip even…

Nice Sharp Knife - Chef's Knife

I bought this knife about a month ago and I really enjoy using it. It's hotter than my Parer Wüsthof! I bought this to replace a rusty carbon steel knife that I gave to Goodwill because the wooden handle was cracked. Ever since I gave the knife away, I've been able to kick myself. I missed the sharpness. That's what knives are for - remember! Forget the hype and glitz of fashion brands. My old, rusty carbon steel knife surpassed Wüsthoff's sharpness - no problem. (Yes, it's hard to admit after…
