A must have for maintaining and sharpening your knives. Sharpener can be used wet or dry and features a Sani-Safe handle. It can be used as a steel when running your knife across it with a slight amount of pressure or to create a new edge, use more pressure. Made in USA.

Great way to sharpen

This is my second knife. I wore the first one in about 7 years. This is possibly the best and easiest way to sharpen a knife in a couple of pulls and you'll have a very good edge

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Something different

Works Great!: Cutlery & Knife Accessories

Works as advertised. He used to sharpen and even give a badly worn knife a new edge. It will take some practice to get the angle right, but so far very satisfied. For me it's made in the USA.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Diamond steel for sharpening, made in the USA. Great size and quality.

I like to use steel to sharpen my kitchen knives. I've used cheap ones in the past and just didn't want to buy another one. I found this Dexter and bought it immediately. It's perfect and doesn't clog like the cheaper ones.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • update available

Boss line approved in knife sharpener

I use this steel all the time at work. It is very durable, comfortable and easy to care for. 12" length fits knives 10" or smaller. It's also VERY effective; much more than standard stainless steel round core sharpening steels. It removes metal and you must wipe the knife and steel after each use to remove the sawdust.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • annoying

Excellent steel. Expensive but worth every penny!

Fantastic steel. It perfectly copes with its task and, in the absence of a stone, restores worn knives to working condition. Apparently it's pretty durable too, as I forgot it at work and the idiots on the early shift couldn't do much more than make a few cuts on the rubber cap and a small plastic scratch where it got stuck in the knife block. If he can live with them for a day and only show that, he will serve even an inexperienced user for a LONG time.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Easy to use for a beginner or expert and I'm an expert

As a professional chef I have purchased several grinders over the last 30 years and this is one of the best, if not the best, best sharpening steel out there I ever had! Large length, width of steel sharpening. I like the fact that it's oval as opposed to round carbon steel as it seems to have a better edge to sharpen than round carbon steel. Although it costs a little more than regular carbon steel, I think this diamond steel works much better. Great item, great price, fast shipping. This is…

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues

You get what you pay for! Dexter is of the same quality

I bought my last one at the beginning of 2016. As a result I had to sell it about a year ago when it was completely worn out. I used them at least once a week to sharpen a couple of kitchen knives. Last year I tried a few Smith sharpeners to try something different. They also work well, but not for as long. They're a lot more fun to sharpen and last a lot longer. I got my second one a few days ago and was excited to use it again. I always used steel in cooking school, but they're hard to come…

Pros
  • also understands the old
Cons
  • a few little things
