Show the oysters who's boss

This is a big oyster knife. After disassembling a few products from the supermarket, I read the reviews and settled on this one. It is much better than others that were not curved. Another thing that helps is to place the oysters in the freezer for about ten minutes before opening. They don't fight as hard for their lives and are much easier to shake off.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • There's trouble to come

A great tool that makes cleaning almost a pleasure

Fantastic tool! I almost bought a cheaper one, but I remembered how painful the slippery handle and weak blade was. It has been at least 5 years since I shook an oyster, after spending time with the first oyster the next dozen came out very quickly and easily. Even when the armor was chipped, the blade was immaculate and the hilt never lost grip or got tired of holding on.

  • Acceptable

Best basic knife, best special tools and gadgets

I've never cleaned oysters in my life so I read everything I could find and watched dozens of YouTube videos to find out which knife the best and easiest to use is . use and most reliable. It had great reviews and is listed as the product of choice in The Geography of Oysters. After using and comparing it to another knife I bought at the same time, I agree. The curved tip is particularly important for finding and separating the oyster loop, and the grip is very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Minor problems

Recent Oyster Shucker

I work at an oyster bar and these knives the company buys and then we buy from our boss. Anyway, I needed a new knife and I found them here! Great quality and opens oysters (if you know how to open them) with no problems. I use these knives to clean Louisiana and Texas oysters. When cleaning oysters with more fragile shells, tend to use a thin, pointed knife (like a clam knife) to avoid cracking the shell (this has been found out the hard way with WV oysters). I work about 25 hours a week…

I have two DR oyster knives, a thicker and blunter Boston and a thinner, flatter, curved tip New Haven model. Both are great tools. I usually throw both and alternate between them. For some oysters where the loop is more direct, I use a thicker boston and its powerful leverage. For others, flatter ones with a curved hinge (Malpeques might be that, or Moon Shoals), this New Haven-style blade goes into the hinge and fires the lever and pops better. I don't think you can go wrong with every knife,

It's not a knife, it's a shaker!

In my last career I was a professional oystercatcher. I had a barebones knife called Bertha that didn't look like much but did the job. She was my whole world. Then I met my future wife and that was the end of my career. Berta and I broke up, but I always thought of her from time to time. Fast forward to many years and three children. To save money we decided to stop going to oyster bars and eat at home. I was thrilled to be able to shake off again! But I was nothing without Bertha until I…
