They seem to work well and are inexpensive.

I have not received my order yet but have been using it on my street dog for several years. It's very common in and out of the woods and in weeds where there are mites and I rarely find a tick on it and have never seen fleas on it or scratched it so they should work great. I don't know if they are safe for a house dog, especially with young children.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Damaged

I have 4 large dogs (all 75# to 92#), 1 dog reacted poorly (still paranoid after skin reaction to topicals). I've been buying them through Revain and other vendors (depending on price) for years and I swear by them. Only 1 time has 1 fallen off but I put it back on (needs to double check by snapping). I buy 8 (at a time) every year - I've only seen 1 (dead) tick on my youngest boy. I don't buy any other types anymore.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not as fat as other picks

Great for Fall and Winter

We own a husky and a pit bull and live on 215 acres of land with lots of woods and tall grass fields. Therefore, we use protection for our dogs all year round. I use them on her in the fall and winter and they provide enough protection to work during that time. However, in spring and summer we switch to heavier work modes. However, if you live in an area that isn't heavily vegetated, they can work for you year-round. In fact, I was very surprised by its effectiveness.

  • Build Quality
Cons
  • Frequency

Only worked for 3 weeks

At first the product seemed to work as advertised for the 3 weeks I used on my dog. As soon as I put it on, he stopped scratching, biting, and whining. He was constantly on the street, so I didn't see any fleas in those 3 weeks. After a while he reverted to his bad, incessant scratching and whining. Searched for fleas and one day I encountered a flea problem again. Overall the product worked but not for the suggested 4 months :(. I hate looking for another product that suits my needs but whatโ€ฆ

Keep losing! - Plain collars

My breeder uses this product on all her dogs with no problems. But I have four dogs and I can't keep them with my two youngest ones who are 15 months and 26 months. I wanted to try again with Mia, the youngest, but it didn't stop there. I found it - luckily it was in the house - and reattached it securely. Two days later and he's gone! I can't find it anywhere! They play so hard but you would think I could find it in the house or in the yard! Failed! Money thrown away again and yet she is notโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High test results for fit and durability
Cons
  • Functionality

works better than any other file/tick product

At first I had 2 large dogs. I've used products that require a monthly squeeze of a bottle around my neck and my dogs have run and jumped on the ground and scratched the back of their heads as if the products would burn them. I should have found something better! So I looked around and found what I call these spectral guard bulbs. Let me just say my dogs are protected for about $40 a year. I very rarely found ticks and never fleas and when I did find ticks they were already dead. The bestโ€ฆ
